Auckland is NZ’s fastest growing region

Auckland will continue to be New Zealand’s fastest growing region, and will account for three-fifths of the country’s population by 2031. Of every 100 people in New Zealand, 38 will be living in Auckland in 2031, compared with 34 in 2011, according to Statistics New Zealand. Auckland would then have two million of NZ’s 5.2 million people. Net migration is expected to account for one-third of growth.
